Alternative Service Work Camps - Contents

This is the largest section of this website. It has three sections.

The first, Work, has stories and pictures of conscientious objectors working in the camps. They performed many different jobs, from fighting forest fires to building roads. They also worked on a top secret military project. It was so secret, the COs didn't even know about it!

The second section, Life at Camp, is about how the men spent their free time. They worked hard all day, but in the evenings and the weekends they played music, held religious services, and even formed a CO newspaper.

The third section, Support from Home, is what made the whole CO experience possible. Without the encouraging mail from home and visits from ministers, life as a CO would have been even more difficult.
